Welcome to WIT (Words, Ideas and Thoughts) of the Week.
“I come from the land of the Kama Sutra…I can f*** you in more ways than you can count.”
That was the first line I wrote when I started my comedy career in London in 2004. Since then I’ve had the joy of performing over 2000 shows in more than 25 countries and the honour of disappointing many a lover who came my way on account of believing the line above.
I have been privileged to perform to full houses on Broadway and at the Sydney Opera House.
In the subjective world of stand-up comedy a few people in their not so infinite wisdom chose to present me a few awards along the way. Luckily I didn’t have to bribe them too much for these accolades.
Prior to starting out as a comedian, the University of Oxford accidentally admitted me into their Masters in Business programme and their brand has been tarnished ever since.
Using that MBA degree as cover however, I snuck my way into the offices of over 50 blue-chip companies across the globe where I delivered customised corporate training programmes.
This seemed to fool the folks at Harvard Business School into believing I was worthy enough to be invited across the pond as a speaker as well.
The scam kept building up and a reputable publisher was conned into printing a few thousand copies of my autobiography titled ‘Naked’, which is an apt reflection of the amount of clothing I can afford on an artist’s income. It’s also the title of my comedy special.
Having pity on my bank balance however has led to organisations inviting me to help them present complex information in a clear, succinct and engaging manner. This has normally manifested itself in marketing, branding and content consulting assignments at one end and pitching and business development projects at the other.
Having made people laugh in many countries and organisations also allows me the ability to connect seemingly disparate sets of people who can help each other out. Don’t worry, I’m fully aware of how shady that sounds.
The greatest joy I get is from my Happiness Project through which I try and take laughter to those who need it most. Offline in pre-Covid days and online now.
My life’s mission is to uplift others and help them be the best version of themselves. I look forward to entertaining, engaging and inspiring you with my writing.
My best wishes
